History

Black Rocks originate from the Harco/Arbor Acres breeders of America.
Peter Siddons (link to P.Siddons page) of Muirfield Hatchery, Scotland, acquired the breeding stock in 1973 and so genuine Black Rock's come from his Muirfield Hatchery in Scotland or one of their agents.

Characteristics

The Black rock is a first-cross hybrid from especially selected strains of Rhode Island Red (male line) and a Barred Plymouth Rock (female line). That means that although all chicks are black, the males have a white spot on their heads.
They are a docile friendly bird and have a high immunity to disease.
They dont mind bad weather and seem very resistant to red mite.
